Chasing tail in Eastern Oregon

I can't believe how long it has been since I've wet a line!

The rivers are a mess, and just starting to get back into shape.

I've developed a nervous twitch in my right arm, which, after extensive consideration and my clever deductive powers, I've determined is associated with my casting arm not being put to use and muscle atrophy.

So, what have I been doing during the high water? All of my fly boxes are overflowing, I don't have any current house projects (aside from pumping water from my basement), so I was forced out to the shop.

Several years ago, I started on a wooden porch swing for the house in Sisters. I put about 50 or 60 hours into it before getting burned out; I'm so delirious from lack of fishing that I actually dug it out from the pile of trim it had been “holding” and set about finishing it. I got most of it sanded, I just need to install hardware and shoot it with some varnish. I think that Amy just about had a heart attack when she saw me working on it.

Also, Elsa is just about ready to walk, so I’ve been busy chasing a very active 14 month old little girl around! My new year's resolution is to take her in the drift boat for her first float this year, so once the day time temps pick up look out Lower Deschutes!

I’ve got a trip on the books for the end of February, and another in mid-March, so I can’t wait!
