Steelhead season closes on the 15th, and given that I still have yet to lay my paws on one I thought I'd give it another shot...the river was higher than I had wanted it to be, but what are you gonna do in mid April?



While I didn't even see a fish this time (unlike last week, when I almost stepped on one holding in 4 inches of water and spooked several more right against the bank) I did bear witness to one of the largest caddis hatches I've ever seen.







Beautiful day on the water - I did see numerous trout gorging themselves on the blanket of caddis in the backeddies, and all it did was just reaffirm that I am ready for the 4th Saturday in May.
